The Sunken Sands stretch across the southern reaches of the Valley of the Ancients, a desolate expanse of shifting dunes and cracked earth. Beneath its surface lie buried ruins of a once-great city, now tainted by Umbraeth’s shadow, whispering secrets of the Ancients’ downfall to those who dare to dig.
Towering sandstone cliffs rise from endless dunes, weathered by relentless sandstorms. Dry riverbeds carve the landscape, their banks dotted with petrified trees and Umbraeth’s black ichor seeping from cracked earth. Scattered glyphs glow faintly atop buried spires, visible only under a stormy sky.
Centuries ago, the Sunken Sands were a thriving oasis city, its spires gleaming under the sun until Umbraeth’s corruption sank it beneath the dunes. The Ancients’ final stand here left the Echo Shard buried deep, a relic Aria must reclaim to unravel their lost legacy.
Sand wraiths drift through the dunes, their hollow wails carried by the wind, while burrowing scarabs guard buried treasures with razor mandibles. Umbraeth’s shadow stirs petrified sentinels to life, and a mysterious wanderer, Kael, roams the sands, offering cryptic guidance.
The Dune Mirror Array challenges Aria to align three sandstone mirrors using wind bursts from the Gauntlet of Storms, reflecting a beam through a sandstorm to reveal the Echo Shard’s crypt, all while dodging scarab swarms.
The Echo Shard, a jagged crystal pulsing with golden light, rests in a buried crypt, amplifying Aria’s Glyph-Blade against Umbraeth’s minions. A Sand-Worn Compass, found amidst petrified trees, points to hidden caches when held aloft.
Kael, the Sand Wanderer, emerges from the dunes, his weathered cloak hiding sharp grey eyes. Wielding a curved dune blade, he aids Aria against wraiths and sentinels, his knowledge of the Sands guiding her to the Echo Shard.
The Sunken Sands push Aria to confront the Ancients’ hubris, unearthing the Echo Shard to weaken Umbraeth’s hold. Kael’s alliance here deepens her resolve, revealing the desert’s buried truths as she strides toward the Valley’s redemption.
